The school run, the clubs and the pick-ups, in one place

Family logistics live in too many places: a calendar, a group chat, a fridge door. Orbily keeps them in one family orbit — a shared plan with reminders, a chat beside it, and alerts when people get home — so everyone knows who is collecting whom.

How it plays out

  1. 7.00am

The daily digest arrives: swimming at four, parents' evening at six, and Grandma's birthday on Saturday.

  2. 8.15am

Dad leaves for work, and the family orbit is told he has left home.

  3. 2.50pm

Mum's meeting runs over. She asks in the family chat who can do the swimming pick-up. Grandad replies that he can, and Mum narrows the swimming event to him and the children.

  4. 3.30pm

Grandad gets a reminder half an hour before swimming, with the pool on the map and Directions one tap away.

  5. 5.20pm

Everyone is told the children are home with Grandad, and the parents' evening event shows who is going.

What helps

Can the whole family use one shared calendar?

Yes. Each orbit has one plan that everyone in it sees, with repeats for the weekly clubs, reminders before things start and a daily digest at seven in the morning. People can say whether they are going, and an event can be narrowed to the people it is for.

Do grandparents and childminders need to share their location?

No. Anyone in the orbit can take part with updates only: they see the plan, get the reminders and join the chat without ever sharing a location.

More questions about the school run

Yes. “Add to my calendar” copies an Orbily event into your phone's calendar. It works one way: Orbily does not read your phone's calendar.
